Can I Ride My Ebike in the Rain?
Yes. It’s OK to ride Denago’s City 1.0 models in the rain. Be careful as breaking distance will be more than in normal conditions and visibility might be impaired. ALWAYS be SAFE and WEAR a HELMET.
When possible, park your ebike indoors to protect it from the elements. Avoid forcing water (such as by pressure washing) into bearings or electrical components. Never submerge your Denago ebike or any of its components.
About water and dust resistance ratings
Denago ebikes conform to the IP (ingress protection) rating system, an international standard for protection against water and foreign particles, like dust or dirt. The first digit signifies resistance to dust, the second digit signifies resistance to water.
“0” is the lowest level of protection, and “10” is the highest. An “X” means the component has not been rated.
Denago ebike components are rated as follows
- Lithium-Ion batteries: IPX6 (protected against powerful water jets and heavy seas)
- Controller: IP67 (protected against access to hazardous parts, dust-tight; and protected against the effects of temporary submersion in water; test requires 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter)
- Rear hub motors: IPX5 (protected against access to hazardous parts, dust-protected)
